The "IR11-V" is the first electric car designed and built in the IRT workshop.
The idea for it came after the very successful 2010 season and after building the four previous cars with combustion engines. It was intended to further develop the team and enable other students from the electrical engineering department to join the team.
This ambitious project required more resources than any previous project, both in terms of personnel and material. Unfortunately, due to the lack of a test phase, it was not possible to present a road-ready vehicle on the track in Hockenheim. The "IR-V" certainly looks as breathtaking as a formula racing car should look, but has not yet been able to demonstrate its power there.
This vehicle should therefore be seen as a teaching and test object, which has prepared us with the experience gained for the following, very successful 2012 season with the next electric racing car.
