2014 was a particularly successful year for the IRTe. In competition with teams from universities and universities of applied sciences from all over the world, who compete against each other once a year at the Formula Student Germany (FSG) - International Design Competititon at the Hockenheimring and measure their strength in many different disciplines with their cars. This year it was once again time to impress with innovation in the FSG Electric with our fourth fully electric racing car in the week from 29.7.-3.8.14.
This year, for example, we developed a side impact structure for the first time in our "Infected" car and installed our carbon fiber drive shafts. The aim was to build a solid racing car that could be tested as quickly as possible after a short construction phase to allow as much time as possible for improvements and repairs. From May onwards, we were able to devote all our energy to the continuous improvement of our car. And with success:
The IR14 - Infected took 6th place overall in the Formula Student Electric - the best team result so far for IRTe - and also won first place in the "Best Prepared Car For Scrutineering" category, sponsored by DEKRA. Our Infected was particularly impressive in the dynamic disciplines (21st place overall) such as efficiency (1st place), winning the "Most Engery Efficient Car Award" sponsored by HARTING, and endurance (7th place). With so much success and pride, we are full of energy for the next year!
